Bob, 93, in war tribute
IRELAND'S oldest Spanish Civil War veteran was the guest of honour at yesterday's ceremony to commemorate the Battle of Jarrama near Madrid.
Bob Doyle, now 93, comes every year to pay tribute to one of his pals who died there in 1937.
He was the only International Brigade veteran at the ceremony.
An organiser said: "Bob is our revered Irishman. He is in a wheelchair now but is as sharp as anyone."
