Dear Mother,
I haven't got a letter from you since the one dated Aug. 10. I answered it at once and I asked you to reply quickly to this address, and I would get it here, now it is 3 weeks and no answer. I am still in hospital, and I will be here some little time yet, as I have developed complications, so if you write as soon as you get this to the [new page] address at top of the other page, I will get it.
Please don't delay or it will miss me. Excuse the writing as I am lying on my side and it is not very comfortable.
Could you send a News Chronicle as well? I got the cigs, also in the last letter, and I can tell you I enjoyed them.
I am sorry there is not more to tell you, but hospital life is not very interesting. So I'll
stop for the present.
