Guide to Individuals in the 1936-38 Irish Left papers.

The three papers concerned are the The Worker, Irish Democrat and The Workers' Republic.

This is an attempt to make these three papers more accessible to researchers, family members, etc. I've tried to make it as accurate as possible, but please get back to me if you discover any problems.

I've made some links thru to the papers, each link SHOULD take you CLOSE to where the individual is mentioned. I will work thru those dates not linked asap.

As of today, 3pm April 23rd, I've created links thru to 248 articles Only 310 to go.

By 4pm May 6th nearly there! I've created links thru to 466 articles
There's only 107 to go!!!! There were initially 558 links, it now has gone to 573.

Frank Ryan appears so often that I have only indicated a few mentions. I've not bothered with O'Duffy at all.

Report of his death

24/7/37(2) Indicates two different articles in that issue mention this volunteer.

5/38 is a ref. to May 1938, The Workers Republic was a shortlived monthly paper.

[Emanuel] Julius: A London Jew called Julius is listed on 19th Dec. 36. There are records of a volunteer called Emanuel Julius. He originally volunteered as part of a militia medical unit. Became a Quartermaster and later worked at Granen hospital. Joined the militia unit proper on 20 September 1936 where he became an officer. The paper reports that he died 8th October 1936, other records suggest the 18th.

## Tommy WOOD is always listed as WOODS, but his family have asked that the correction be made, so please bear that in mind for any future notes, study, etc.
